2019 – The Year Of Tolerance

The UAE has always welcomed people of all races, religions and nationalities with open arms. In fact, one of the founding principles of our great nation is the promotion of peaceful co-existence and acceptance of people from different nationalities, identities, and cultural backgrounds.

The declaration of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, making 2019, the ‘Year of Tolerance’ reflects this principle. The ‘Year of Tolerance’ is a continuation of the values venerated by the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Therefore, the theme of the year 2019 is really an extension of the ‘Year of Zayed’.

These values are the cornerstone to building strong societies as they celebrate differences, establish dialogues, and build genuine models that promote global tolerance.

Today, the UAE is a global hub and therefore the country espouses the values of tolerance, through a combination of legislation and policies and also through dialogue and acceptance and openness to different cultures knowing well that they are crucial in the path of prosperity.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention initiatives

The declaration reiterates the commitment of the country’s leadership to instill noble human values fundamental to civilization and renouncing any form of violence and thereby ensuring openness to various cultures.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention is set to launch a host of sustainable and relevant projects, initiatives, and programs designed to promote UAE as a centre for co-existence and cultural convergence. The Ministry is strongly supportive of the government’s vision of tolerance and understands that it is a tool of empowerment and a means to maintain a stable and prosperous nation.
